Small Engine Dynamometers Small engine dynamometers differ from standard engine dynamometers in that the shaft height and attitude of operations vary. Generally existing in three different sizes. 1 - 5 Hp @ 4 to 12,000 Rpm 3.5 - 40 Hp @ 4 to 10,000 Rpm
Beyond these ranges horizontal only dynamometers are generally placed on combination Engine/Dynamometer seismic bases. This allows the shaft centerline to operate at a higher level. Many of the other characteristics and principles remain the same as larger Hp dynamometers. A unique dynamometer is AEI's Horizontal Vertical, which operates in both planes. Horizontal vertical units are required to have dual position calibration capabilities. |
