Thank you for your interest in Application Engineering Inc. and its products. Originally located in Benton Harbor, MI, Application Engineering Inc, new located in South Haven, MI has increased its facilites to better serve its clients. Our web pages are designed to help identify most engine test components used in engineering, durability and production test situations. Application Engineering Inc. began in response to the need for components other than dynamometers and data acquisition systems for engine testing. We have responded for over 25 years to these needs for the increased utilization of engine test cells by palletization or cart mounting of the test engines, and related test cell equipment. An engine can be predressed and, in some cases, even pre-run before being introduced into the test cell. The predressed engine also minimizes the changeover time in the cell. Reductions to 15 minutes or less have been achieved by some clients, saving countless hours of test cell downtime. Engine testing can vary from chainsaw engines, automobile engines to even ship engines. Application Engineering Inc. is open to all of these markets, however, our background has been proven superior in the automotive and medium truck diesel industry. Within this market, we have and continue to develop groups of accessory components for test cells and audit test systems. Essentially, Application Engineering Inc. offers integrated components for new test cells, however, in analysis we also offer groups of components for existing test cells and various applications. Partnered with Voith Turbo of Germany, AEI has been providing clients with torsional couplings and other components for driveshafts. We have found the Kusel Coupling offered by Vith Turbo to be an excellent product solving difficult torsional problems in dynamometer systems. The Kusel Coupling is a device that can be added to the front of the dynamometer or the rear of the engine and can utilize a standard cardan or constant velocity type driveshaft depending on the rpm of the test. Application Engineering Inc. and Voiith Turbo are happy to perform preliminary torsional vibration analysis and supply a recommended coupling and driveshaft for your application. We have also developed a line of special vapor elimination and level tanks for gasoline, diesel and alternate liquid fuels to be used with your choice of flow meters in measuring the fuel flow to an engine. The original line of these tanks was for the automotive series of engines, however, we have now expanded the line and offer tanks for use with single cylinder lawn mower engines on through 3500Hp diesel engines. Most of these tanks are custom to the application and require knowledge of the fuel type, fuel consumption and fuel return of the test engine. We would be happy to analyze these parameters and make recommendations for your particular fuel system. Another line of equipment is the small engine dynamometer test stand. This dynamometer test stand, because of the styles of small engines from 3 - 30Hp, is manufactured as a horizontal/vertical dynamometer and allows the dynamometer to be placed in either position. We have several standard versions incorporating various dynamometers, either customer supplied or supplied by Application Engineering Inc. and a line of custom units allowing many options including driveshaft driven engines. Another aspect of this series of test equipment is the laboratory sound test unit, the laboratory engine development unit and production audit type test stand. Each of these units emphasizes a different characteristic requiring sophisticated control or rapid changeover of engines. Application Engineering Inc. is in a position to provide most of these pieces of equipment and looks forward to working with you. Application Engineering Inc's staff will gladly help you determine the best course of approach from setting up a new test cell to converting and older style one. |
